Hey there rainbowers! :D

You’re joining me for possibly the first exciting post I’ve ever made.~ I had an adventure this week! I travelled down to London with my buddy Chris to give him his birthday present: a day out at DESTINATION STAR TREK LONDON!

After a couple of days recovering from the experience, I’ve had time to sort through all of our photos so please enjoy scrolling down. I’ll provide explanation where it’s needed but non-Trekkers might not understand the excitement. XD In which case, I hope you’ll continue reading just for my enthusiasm!

Please enjoy~! <3

We entered London via King’s Cross. :D *potterhead*

The ExCeL centre! It was 9am when we arrived, and the sky was cloudless. The building took my breath away, I wasn’t expecting such a huge venue! IT WAS SO BIG THOUGH. ; w;

Chris was kind of excited when we were waiting to go in! He’s not that great at showing it though. >w<

The queue was huge but it still didn’t take long for them to get us all in. *w*

Something like three quarters of people there were in costume! I was in heaven. x__x Loads of them were pretty young girls too!

Zachary “Chris”to, hurhurhur. There was a cut-out thing of SFX magazine cover with Chris Pine and Zach Quinto’s faces cut out. Fun!

Of all the costumers, I think Chris’s favourites were these friendly Klingons! They really were charming. ^W^

Possibly the highlight of my day. ^^ We really did meet some lovely people, even if only briefly. I know people in cosplay must get annoyed being asked for photos all the time but it’s proof that you’re doing it properly! :D

When we were hanging out in the Klingon Zone for a breather, we saw a boy and girl in kigurumi! They were so cute that I had to take a snap! I was too shy to ask, though so I did it while they weren’t looking. >w<

There was a museum exhibition of loads of Star Trek props and costumes that this one guy had gathered up! It was so impressive and awe-inspiring to see. Just a small piece of glass between me and these artefacts of sci-fi history!

William Shatner wore this! :D And the blue one was worn by Tom Hardy in Star Trek: Nemesis.

Troi’s blue uniform and Spock’s (<333) spacesuit from TMP.

I took this as Chris was buying a t-shirt. If you can see him, you win a prize! XD The “fan-zone” area seemed really quiet compared to the other places and then there was a merchandise stall surrounded by people. :O

These two guys, the hilarious Ron Moore (left) and Ira Behr, are two writers of sci-fi, and worked on Star Trek: TNG and DS9. We listened to them answering fan’s questions and I personally could have listened to them all day! Such lovely guys! >w<

These were the people sitting with us to hear Ron, Ira and the other speakers (whose names elude me at this time but included the man who painted the Enterprise model of TMP and one of Gene Rodenberry’s assistants (the dude had some wonderful photos!)).

And when I got to a higher point for a better view of all the people there … please consider that this was THE TINIEST FRACTION of people there, it was so overwhelming but the atmosphere was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced!

Literally squealed for joy when I saw this man. Data is my favourite TNG character! I know I don’t look pleased but I was really embarrassed and this guy was totally in character. I fell a little bit in love. D:

After the costume parade, this clever, funny man showed us how to put on Klingon make-up for a convention! It was so skilfully done and the girl he made-over was so happy and excited. :’3

I went back to the Klingon Zone because I was stalking Walter Koenig (who played Chekov) and I couldn’t miss this photo opportunity!

I did manage to get a beautifully long glimpse of Mr. Koenig and I left the area feeling pleased and a little bit creepy. :3

This was the queue of people waiting to get their photo taken with Mr. Koenig. They all got so excited when he came! :D It was wonderful to behold so much love in one go. >w< <3

The only thing that could have been better than meeting Brent Spiner would be meeting Leonard Nimoy but the man’s retired, I can accept it and let him have his peace. XD Mr Spiner was friendly, professional, funny and chatty and I’m not ashamed to say I turned bright pink at the mere sight of him.

Chris and I both got a photo with Robin Curtis, who played my favourite lady Vulcan Saavik in two Star Trek movies. She was genuinely warm and happy, friendly and professional and gave us both a hug. >w<

This was the climax of the whole day for me! The line was ridiculous, more than 500 people so they rushed us through (understandably) so I only got to give him a wide, embarrassed smile and return the “thank you” he bestowed upon me. I had my hand on his back for a second and my fingers still tingle. TT w TT *fangirling ok* He was so cheerful despite the fact that he was having like, 1000 photos taken of him today and I’ve heard he’s not a sci-fi convention fan so he did a wonderful job of smiling for the camera for me! ^W^ <333 So much respect for this man, as an actor, director and writer. <3

And THIS was the whole reason we went there in the first place: Chris got to meet Sir Patrick Stewart! Even if only for a few brief moments, the look of pure joy on his face afterwards made every penny worth spending. ^w^

So that brings us to the end of our wonderful TREK ACROSS DA UNIVERSE (aka London). I hope you enjoyed the photos and a first-hand report from a Star Trek fan. ^w^

If they were reading this, I’d want to thank all of the actors, writers, artists and cosplayers we met for being so warm, friendly, professional, beautiful, wonderful, clever, generous, loveable, AMAZING. <3

And the staff who made it all possible, thank you so much for allowing us such a wonderful day.

I’ll leave you with the image of the t-shirt I bought at the event (being a massive Spock fan, of course I bought the one with my beautiful Vulcan-bias’ face on it!)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRIS! Here’s hoping you’ll live another 20 years! <3

Thanks for reading, rainbowers!

Love, Katie. ^w^ <3

The Little Things

Dear Rainbow readers,

I wish I could tell you that exciting things have been happening to me, so I haven’t had time to write to you for a few weeks. In reality, I’ve been a bit down and a bit ill. The long, hard slog of the start of the college year is already getting to me and I lack the motivation and the inspiration to do anything beyond working and sleeping.

I have been collecting photos, though. If there’s one thing that keeps me going, it’s snapping random pictures of moments I get to keep forever.

This will be a lot of photospam with little explanation, but I sincerely hope you enjoy scrolling to the end. If one person smiles reading this, then the long hard slog will be worth it.

First of all, I finally received a letter from my new penpal, Tessa! She lives in California and I sent her my first letter at the end of August. Her stationary was adorable, covered in cupcakes and cute England-themed Hello Kitty stickers. I could already tell we were going to get along! I cannot wait to write back, but being low on funds, it’ll have to wait. Sorry, dear! <3

I think it was the very same day that Dan and myself shared a delicious fried/garlic/unhealthy meal. Well it was a big plate and we had just enough money between us. What are friends for if not for sharing with? :3

Left to right: Kirsty, my main model/girl/goth Jemma, and Benji. We had a fun day in town and I got my ear pierced. :D It’s good that we have a free afternoon every week but we soon won’t be able to slack off.

“The Rise of the Floofy Hats”.

Then just last week, we went to our local HMV and I had a huge, pre-planned fangirl attack. For the first time ever, they were stocking my favourite band! All thanks to JPU Records who are striving to bring J-music over to the UK. They’re causing a revolution, that’s for sure. I’m proud to say I’ve been with them from the off and I hope they’ll bring us so much more joy than they already have. ^W^

(You can follow them on Twitter @JPUrecords !!)

I can’t believe they started making raspberry flavoured McFlurry. >w< I love raspberries, so I had to get one! It was the icing on top of the cake that will forever be remembered as DIVISION day.

That day I bought my first winter jumper! After spending every day in my MIYAVI hoodie, it makes a nice change and is just as warm. >w< The lack of pockets annoys me a little though. ._.

This outfit was cute! I’m sad that I couldn’t get a full-body snap of it. I wore a dress under this long jumper so the very end of the skirt was sticking out. How adorable, even if I say so myself. :D I used a collection of my favourite accessories too.

The hair clips were plain ol’ grey so I painted them brightly with nail varnish. More people should try it, you get a unique finish~! I had my Deathly Hallows necklace and Rainbowholic Snap Bracelet, both of which I seem to wear every day without fail. (You can buy from Rainbowholic at ~!) I tied a brightly coloured shoelace around my neck to make a quirky necklace (I saw someone else wear something like this and, although I didn’t get a photo (too busy!) I did use it as inspiration myself!) and pinned a couple of loops of ribbon to my much-abused teddy bear to make a temporary ring.

I love making my own accessories~! :D I wish I had more time for it right now.

Ah, I guess coffee inspires me a lot. :’3 Look at that bacon, though! Chris thoroughly enjoyed that. ; w;

My beloved Beth somehow spent a long time cutting “I O U” into an apple, since she seems to think she’s part of the Sherlock TV series. Hm, she’s more Watson than Moriarty though. Ah, I guess that makes me Sherlock, even if I am the blogger, right?

Being the beautifully “quirky” girl I am, I pinned a zebra plushy to my shoe. For once, I got no sarcastic comments about it! :D I know people generally don’t get my sense of style, but when I do something cute like this that I really enjoy, nasty comments really do hurt. :<

Here’s someone who would never give me a bad comment, Beth! She very kindly consented to let me borrow her beautiful face for a photoshoot for my art project, Shakespeare. She made a beautiful Cobweb~! I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to snap a candid afterwards, before she got rid of my gorgeous cobweb make-up. I can’t wait to start painting her. >w<

It’s been a difficult and tiring few weeks, but it has really made me appreciate the friends I have, the people who will stay up chatting with me until 2am, and the little things that inspire me. So please remember if, like me, you’re tired and unmotivated and struggling to keep a smile on your face, look for the little things you can do that make you happy.

As for me, I’ll keep taking photos and capturing our memories.

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading!

Lots of love,

The rainbow, Katie. ^w^

Coffee is my muse

Hello~ Rainbowers!  It’s been a while since I made a post, but to be fair nothing’s been happening to me recently. D: I’ve been collecting some photos though, so this might just end up as a photospam post. ^W^ I hope you enjoy!

The first picture I took this week was of a painting I made. It was originally supposed to be “unfinished” but I haven’t finished not finishing it yet so it isn’t … finished … X_X It’s a scary, bloody version of Cobweb from A Midsummer Night’s Dream. I used Sunggyu from Infinite as the model but it doesn’t come through now that she’s more … feminine. XD

COFFEE~!  The coffee at college isn’t all that flavourful but I have loads of tea when I’m at home so I’d miss the caffeine fix. *_*

Ah Dan, you look like a 30 year old man. :3

Dan was staring me down when I took this photo. Not his creepiest facial expression though, I assure you.

I took a photo of my coffee while I was busy analysing Nineteen Eighty-Four. If you read the last post, you’ll know why I’m doing that. A2 Literature. *o*

As I was drinking my coffee I was thinking to myself, “Bet it tastes better than Victory Coffee. Hurhurhur.” Oh dear. :’)

I’m not really sure why I took this photo, but my puppy has a Barney the Dinosaur plushy that he likes to snuggle. :3

I love love love making accessories! My much-abused little teddy bear has been turned into a two-finger ring, I made some shoelaces into a bracelet and there’s my Rainbowholic bracelet again~!! :O

( )

I wore these accessories today with my Harajuku-kei outfit!

I wore mismatched brightly coloured socks! I also wore the gorgeous pink socks sent to me by my inspiration, rainbowholic Kaila when I bought my bracelet off her. I adored this combo, but I couldn’t get a good snap of it. :<

A blurry snap of my accessories~! You can see how the teddy bear ring works, right? :D

I did some painting today. :B To be honest, I paint every day in art classes but … :’3 First thing Monday morning requires coffee of course!

Jemma tried on my LolitaxRainbow hair accessory~! Doesn’t she look sweet? :3 How deceptive!

So this was my full outfit today! With brightly coloured socks and lolita-kei shoes, I felt so adorable. >W< I wish I could dress this oddly every day. ; w;

Apparently, when we’re bored, we stick bits of plastic to Dan.

And I’ll leave you with this image. I took some photos of Jemma for art and … well I’ll let the Jemmaception speak for itself. (But sorry for the rude gestures, everyone wanted in on this one. ; n;)

Thanks for reading!
